Nothing gets by those folks at Microsoft. Right about seven years after its trademarked Office product has become industry standard (and the Linux opposition to beat) Microsoft nabbed its flagship name.

Domain industry reaction has ranged from an openmouthed stammer to a wisecracking fusillade of mockery. For a company brand product name with near-rabid tendencies toward copyright protection and concern for brand jumping, that Office.com has evaded the blue checkbook of death this long should be respected.
