Triple X Stutters in Cartagena

The flow of all things toward a triple x TLD may have slowed somewhat. ICANN has yet to blaze a trail of “Yes”, although this is the big “Y” that in this case come before ‘X”. This week’s Cartajenan cartel o’ domainers lagged and dragged their usual feet and decided much of nothing quick-like. The public comment period for the triple X domain TLD is now open, and what a roistering circus it promises to be.
To those domainers automatically knee-jerked into ponying up another renewal fee for an undesirable domain TLD, comment here. To those who have to pay the one time phase for nullifying their extant name with the opprobrious Triple-X TLD assignee, comment here. Other curious domainers who are not very much concerned can track the way other herd members are crowding here. Reporting ongoing on this topic.
Paypal Policies Change: MicroPayments

Paypal business fees and conditions will change starting November 1, 2010. Sifting through the cyclical update from the most recent Paypal policies changes, the micropayments option draws interest from domainers. The international fees Paypal deems “micropayments” for digital goods between countries not originating in Canada with a destination to the United States has some stiff underlying payment requirements and charges.
Ongoing changes to the Paypal agreement starting will include additional agreement that all billing for Paypal digital goods be consistent with Paypal terms and conditions. Paypal draws a 5-6% fee on incoming payment chargebacks under schedules in their policies. These are billed to the recipient as well as a one time additional micropayment.
Paypal has sketched a new picture for Digital Goods online, with separates rules for chargebacks. Application for digital goods status must occur with conditions set forth by Paypal. Distinctions for chargeback policies for digital, nontangible goods and “normal” tangible (nondigital) goods are defined. In some cases this may reduce total fees charged by Paypal from previously performed.
Paypal also authorizes third party profiles for your account in its newest set or revised policies. Mobile telephone numbers used for home numbers can be changed as Paypal sees fit. Online check payments have additional restrictions. Paypal will begin reporting in 2011 accounts with over 200 transaction payments received and income of $20,000 or more.
Would it be appropriate for experienced domainers to criticize heavily?

I have reguarly read the blogs and posts from experienced domainers and I find them quite insightful. But some experienced domainers criticize domain newbies heavily and I found it a bit strange. In every field, there are newbies and we couldn’t expect them to know all the things in a very short period of time. I am a medical professional and I got medical students and junior doctors all the time under myself. I couldn’t expect them to know all the things and it takes a few years to learn skills to be more and more competent. We have to guide them in a supportive manner and it would be unfair to criticize our junior colleagues for not having confidence to handle difficult cases.
I really think this also applies to domaining. I believe I have read that even Frank Schilling registered very crappy domains during his initial few years. In our medical field, there is established textbooks, medical schools, training institutes etc… and it takes usually 7 years to finish medical training and another 7 to 10 years to become a consultant. In domaining world, many experienced domainers usually keep their ways of success to themselves and it makes more difficult for domain newbies to learn from their mistakes and so on. But over the years, if any newbie is persistant enough to pursue his or her interest, the skills & knowledge would improve over time assuming that there isn’t anything wrong with the newbie mentally.

I made a domainer mistake?

I put one of my domains, PetInsuranceComparison.com at the Sedo auction from $2,500 (reserve met) but I missed one important information. Thanks to the domainer who made a comment on my previous blog, Will I keep making mistakes?” blog regarding the aution. He mentioned that .org counterpart sold over $4,000. There are around 30,000 EXACT searches per month for the keywords (pet insurance comparison) and CPC (cost per click) is around $14 per click. I value the domain in xx,xxx range
Now I googled and found out that PetInsuranceComparison.org sold for $4,444 at Sedo only few weeks ago. There are only 2 days left before the auction for my domain PetInsuranceComparison.com finished and only one bid so far.

Domain Market Update

The recent six figure domain sales have given rise to the hopes of many a aftermarket domainer in these troubled economic times. Whereas some domainers may see a shrinking buyer’s market, other experts disagree. Noted domain bloggers have been consistently commenting on the healthy resale market and auction robustness catching the domainer headlines of late.
The legitimate monetary revenues derived from domaining have not shrunk so much as sharply diversified into more competitive markets. Domain development and domain resale via auction sales seem as healthy as they were in pre-recession late 2008. Furthermore, shifts in the domain marketplace, such as the closing of Bido and the auction privileges extended by certain registrars to some auction sites, symbolize not the expiration but the maturation of the domain market.
Domain sales across all TLD’s can still be savored, but the bonanza market of the initial land grab is past over with. Career domainers with specialized long game interests and savvy marketing skills can promote their chosen domain sale with an optimum chance of ultimate domain profit from resale. Choosing development options, hosting accounts, parking page and template versiosn as well as direct domain marketing to possible buyers brings the steady domain money home.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not a domain expert. I am still a domain newbie.

Some people might think that I started this website because I thought I am a domain expert. No where near that. I am still a domain newbie and as a part-time domainer (full time as a doctor) and I know domaining is too much to learn. When I started domaining in around 2007, I registered about 100 domains as bad as theGoodFriday.co.uk which I thought would be worth x,xxx range or so. I was so wrong. I dropped over 95% of those domains.
Apart from a few xx,xxx range domain sales, there is nothing much going on with my domaining. I am more towards acquiring domains rather than focussing on selling domains. I started this domain news website to share some domain latest news on domain sales, auctions etc…
I am still a domain newbie and I recently acquired the following domains.
FootballScore.com,
WhatisMyCreditScore.com
MyPokerTour.com ,
OurCasinos.com,
HospitalDoctor.com,
PuzzleNetwork.com,
Jigsaws.net,
Fridge.net,
FirstBlackjack.com,
Weirdly.com,
ProjectManagementCourses.com
SofaSite.com
LostTheories.com
CornerSuite.com
PropertyMaintenance.net
WeirdHolidays.com
BestBuyPhones.com
CaseFan.com
RecoveryVehicle.com
past few days or so. I would welcome any comments on my domain acquisition. (if comment is not working, you could always contact me via email : admin (at) deliciousnames.com .
Below is the Valuate.com valuation which is very rough. (but still quite smart for an automatic appraisal tool) e.g. MyPokerTour.com for $50 is a bit too low, I think.

End user market is amazing. I would not buy this domain for reg fee.

End user domain marketplace is amazing and domainers got quite decent deals by selling their domains directly to end users.
Recentlty TravelCube.biz was sold for over $2,000 (exactly at 1,500 Euros). I would not buy the domain at reg fees personally and even if someone gives it to me for free, I would not accept it considering the work involved to transfer, renew and maintain the domain etc…
It is at the same time encouraging to the domainers who have put effort and time in the domaining and the only thing is to find the right end user for the particular domain at the right time.
