It was interesting to see the domain sale of Tracker.at for over $20,000 recent. The domain, Tracker.at was exactly sold for 18,000 Euros and it is equivalent to $23,235. It was an impressive sale for a .at (Austria) domain. I could recall Job.at was sold in xxx,xxx range a few months ago.

I have registered following .at domains a few months ago when Eurodns was offering a massive discount on .at domains (registered until 2017).

Theme.at
Consolidation.at
Diagnosis.at
Grocery.at
Impotence.at
Medication.at
Practice.at
Settle.at
Slimming.at
Submitted.at
Accepted.at

Dating.com sold for $1.75 million dollars. Too low or too high?

Yesterday, there was a big domain sale and the premium domain, Dating.com sold for $1.75 million dollars. There are many discussions regarding this domain sale and some said too low, some said too high price. For me, I think it would depend upon what the domain seller would do with the money. I believe he got a good domain sale and he could buy some decent domains at reasonabe prices. Yes, he may get 3 million or more if he waits a bit longer but he might have missed opportunities to capture more or less similar quality domains at very reasonable prices.

For example,

He may get 3 million dollars for dating.com in 5 years’ time by waiting a bit more.

But if he reinvests the money (1.75 million) in the domains in xxx,xxx range and if he manages to get $300,000 domains at $100,000 prices, his new porfolio would be equivalent to 1.75 x 3 =5.25 million dollars.

Therefore, I believe he gets a fair sale price if he decides to reinvest the money to acquire quality domains in this time of difficult economy.

Slots.com got bids of over 4 million dollars. SLOTS and SLOT are both LIVE trademarks.

There are only 2 days left for the auction of the domain, SLOTS.com which is a premium gambling or betting domain name. Current highest bid is over 4 million US dollars (exactly at $4,050,000). There are 2 bids until now and the bids do not meet the reserve price.

I look at the US trademark website for one domain I am looking to buy. The domain, I like to buy is a generic one word domain but frustratingly the keyword is trademarked for some other different industry. While at the trademark website, I searched for “slot” keyword (because I also own SlotWebsite.com and GreatSlot.com domains ) and interestingly I found out that both “slot” and “slots” are trademarked for different industry. Hopefully those trademark owners would not abuse their positions to hijack the domain name. In my opinion, even if they make the case against the domain, they may not win it because their marks are not related to betting industry.

To register domains with NetworkSolutions just a waste of money?

I really don’t like NetworkSolutions mainly because of their expensive renewal prices. But unfortunately, I ended up having a few domains there because I won them at Namejet. They are charging around $34 per year for renewal and it is over 4 times that of Moniker or even Godaddy. It is just radiculous and outrageous pricing in this era. At Moniker, renewal fees is only around $8 per year and with Godaddy, it is even less then $8 per year if bulk pricing.

I have talked to the NetworkSolutions’ customer department but they said they charge more than others because their domain management is more secure. I don’t agree with that. With godaddy, you could arrange “extra security” feature “Free” by arranging with “account executive” and I bought MaxLock for domains at Moniker to be more secure. I am moving all the domains from NetworkSolutions either to Moniker or Godaddy and unless they (NetworkSolutions) change their pricing, they would lose more and more business in the long run to other big domain registeration companies.

A nasty domain sale; Nasty.com sold for $200,000

It was a bit surprising to see the domain sale of Nasty.com for $200,000 and it surely was a fantastic domain sale for the domain seller. The domain sale was reported by Sedo domain marketplace. I am sure the domain is of a good quality but I am not very sure many would want to pay that range unless he or she is an end user.

There are many million search results for the keyword “Nasty ” in all search engines. There are around 165,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “Nasty” in Google. But there were only over 90,000 EXACT searches last month in Google.

It surely was a good payday for the domain seller.

Pilot.com sold for $300,000. Another xxx,xxx domain sale

It is always interesting to see a domain sold for six figures or more. Recently Files.com sold for over $700,000. Today, I notice the domain, Pilot.com being sold for $300,000. The domain, Pilot.com is sold at Sedo domain marketplace and it is an interesting high profile domain sale.

When I saw the keyword “pilot“, my initial impression was that the EXACT search for the keyword would not be more than 100,000. But when I actually looked at the google keyword tool, I found out that there are around 300,000 EXACT searches per month on average for the keyword “pilot” just in Google. There were around 165,000 EXACT searches last month for the keyword “pilot”. The CPC (cost per click) is around $1.15 per click.

It was a very good domain sale for the seller, in my opinion.

Insure.asia domain auction , amazingly at around $25,000 with 3 days to go.

I have just noticed the domain auction of insure.asia at 18,500 Euros (nearly $25,000 or according to today’s exchange rate, around $24,792). The auction is ending in about 3 days time and it is at the Sedo domain auction. Currently there is only one bid and I think it is most likely from an end user.

I have a few .asia domains which I won at the sunrise auctions about 2 years back and I thought I had wasted my money.

I have .asia domains such as

Wallpapers.asia
Streaming.asia
Renovation.asia
Stationary.asia
Dart.asia
Bookmakers.asia,
Interpreter.asia
InternetCasinos.asia
ivideo.asia
Cellularphone.asia
Salad.asia
etc.asia
eCruise.asia etc…

I hope I could get some end user domain sales for some of my .asia domains.

It was interesting to see the domain sale of ScreenSavers.com for six figures and the domain was sold for $335,000. I think it is a great domain sale and it is not surprising to see such a price range considering the quality of the domain name. The domain was sold at Snapnames/Moniker showcase auction which was held from 9th March 2010 until 16th March 2010.

There are around 450,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “screensavers” and there are over 100,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “screen savers” in Google.

ScreenSavers.com is a great domain which is going for a great price.

It was a bit surprising to see the domain, PaydayLoans.info sold for a five figure range. The domain, PaydayLoans.info was sold for low xx,xxx range, $24,000 and it was sold at the Sedo domain marketplace. This domain sale shows how some people manage to sell .info domains to end users in xx,xxx range. It was a fantastic domain sale for the seller.

When I looked at the domain stats regarding the keywords of the domain, PaydayLoans.info , I found out that there are over 5 million google results for the keyword “payday loans” and there are around 370,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “payday loans” and there are about 50,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “pay day loans“.

A dating domain , AdultMatch.com was recently sold for nearly $100,000 (exactly at $95,000). The domain is a great dating domain and the domain sale implies that there is considerable demand for quality “dating” domains. The domain , AdultMatch.com was sold at the Sedo domain marketplace.

We will look at some stats related to the domain and its keyword. The domain, AdultMatch.com has been registered since 1997 and there were two “drops” in the past. There are around 22,000 EXACT searches per month for the keyword “Adult Match” in Google. I do believe the domain has been sold to an end user looking at the stats.
