Sports Name Fiesta in 2010

Look for sports TLD domination this year, says an insider. Sports domains in 2010 will become more valuable as with all quality, generic domains.  With more and more people/companies  understanding the need for a converging quality domain, the solidifying effort to increase their brand and online presence becomes more efficient. Sports fulfills the need for fresh dynamic content and a solid audience searching daily for new results.

If there are sports domains that include year numerals in the domain name, those domains have a shorter ‘shelf life’ of value.  But promotion can make the years matter.  Witness the success of all the Nostradamus 2010 domain search result traffic. Hybrids of key niches, like gaming and sports, take place with a site like www.Gamingwizz.com.

This insider goes on to say “Obviously, the shorter, commerce related, and easiest to remember/type are the top names to go after.  The best thing with sports is the amount of fans around the world with so many different sports and teams.  All in all, there is pretty good potential in 2010 for sports niche domains.”

Niche gets Fresh

Domaining Critics agree, niche marketing is looking more and more like the way to go when looking to take profit from bare domain real estate. In the top TLD’s the ground can be thin, and some domainers looking to capitalize on niche marketing are using blog and CMS applications to do so.

Niche bloggers advising the domain crowd encourage the use of niche cross markets to take full advantage of name flexibility and new CCtld availablity. One domain industry blog, www.Bulklinker.com, claims niche marketing is a kind of cross domain and demographic algebra.

The consensus update is awaited about how the netbook revolution and portable Inet box computer laptop market and its saturation into public use has affected domain names with related keywords and traffic markets.

How are net tops net laptops mini laptops and webtops, mini notebooks for principally internet use, figure into expanding domain possibilities?

A few years ago when the designers were developing the first netbook versions, the mainstream laptop market was focused elsewhere. but now teen markets and mature users are opting for the lighter weight, more affordable netbooks. Does that mean more eyeballs? Traffics? Visitors?
