WordPress.pro sold for over $12,000 at Snapnames

I could not believe when I saw the report that WordPress.pro sold at Snapnames for more than $12,000.

Wordpress is trademarked and I could not imagine a domainer buying the .pro version domain of a trademark.

Dot Pro Still Pooling…

The qualifier reg domain name.pro is still attracting domainer investors and developer interest. The dot pro tld is one that requires a professional incorporation or documentation delivered to the registrar to keep the domain active and registered.

Healthy four digit .pro sales have ben reported as of the last 12 month period. Speculators in the domain name marketplace have been promoting dot pro domains and minsites with a view to auctioning them once the dot pro tld takes off. Comments one leading domainer, “Plurals are less popular, but sibling registrations also have some association value”.
