Skimming the Pool for Thursday April 29

The Pool list continues to drop and delete competitive and challenging potential website urls. The numerical name 8888buy.com is a strange one but could get  a novelty bidder. A7m.com is the major three character player at Pool today. Radiobroadcasting.info seems a sure bet for an online or clicks and mortar radio information site.

Foreign country and non English names grow in the multitude of  auction names coming through the hopper. Naj.asia could mean something to the other (non-English) culture webmasters. Boatingmagazine.net offers a portal and webzine opportunity for the right buyer. 4arabic.com could be a far Eastern languages translation destination.

Deleting domain names auctioning at Pool.com today are X9p.com and Xps.net. Europlan.com and alldoctors.com could be intriguing portals for developing domainers. Facydresscostume.com is a long domain name but could make an excellent portal or link directory for fancy dress patterns, information, and/or wares. CCRussia.org could be anything the domainer dreams up! Bresse.com is a region in France famous for chicken.

Skimming Tuesday’s Pool List

The Pool list continues to house good domain name opportunities swimming around in the auction waters at Pool.com. The deleting names have some serious cred in the international waters. Canadanow.org could be a huge politically active site or a portal or directory for such sites. Small character name Dskr.com could be a video disc or Blu-Ray disc site for VJ’s online.

Carlsbadlistings.com sounds like a geologically based zip code classified ads directory for the affluent community of Carlsbad, California. The name casinoslotsjackspots.com is a typical casino and betting site url. Uniquely, omom.com sounds like  a hilarious blog site from random contributors.the name businesscardmaker.org is long but promising.

In the auctioning names competition, snappingtoes.com rings a strange bell. Chickencoopplans.com picks up on an unusual trend in home owners of late to grow their own chickens. Luvtheguv.com and masks.org show potential. The pick: Kidscostumes.net could be a fantastically successful craft resource and directory site.

As the Haiti relief flowed to the disaster area, scammers were registering exploitative domain names and setting up false charity websites to target well-meaning donaters. The London Daily News featured a story on the opportunistic and fraudulent nature of these scams, but experts wonder if an Internet policing authority might not be appropriate to take down sites before the public gets scammed. When you are one url away from getting fleeced, wouldn’t it be prudent to have set some domain handling controls in place?

Google Changes Display URL Policy: One Domain Per Ad Group

Feb 20, 2009 at 3:03pm

The Google AdWords blog has finally announced that the new display URL policy will go into effect the week of February 24th. The new policy, which was I reported at the Search Engine Roundtable about a month ago, and was confirmed by AdWordsAdvisor (an official Google representative in WebmasterWorld), will disallow multiple display domains per ad group.

That means you can only have the same domain showing in a specific ad group in the display URL field. For example, you cannot have one ad in an ad group with the display URL of www.searchengineland.com and another ad in that same ad group with the display URL of www.seroundtable.com. Both ads in that shared ad group must have the same root display URL, so www.searchengineland.com and subdomain.searchengineland.com can be in the same ad group but the previous example is not allowed.
