For those of you who do not know, here is a brief description of a domain name; A Domain Name System, or sometimes reffered to as DNS, is the most recognized system for assigning addresses to internet web servers–More commonly called “internet hosts”– Somewhat like a phone number, the domain name system helps to give every internet server an easy-to-spell address. –As priveously stated this can be related to a phone number system, or your physical adress.–At the same time, the domain names keep the really technical IP adress invisible for most viewers.
There are some misconceptions between a domain name, and a URL.
A Domain Name is Not the Same as URL
Since we want to be politically correct, a domain name is commonly part of a larger Internet address which is called a “URL” . A URL goes into an extremity of detail about domain name, providing a greater amount of information, including the specific pages address, the folder name, the machine name, and the protocol language.
Ie. For wwx.google.com, google.com would be the Domain name.
